Professor Rebecca Earley is a pioneer of digital and experimental print practices in textiles. Her research focuses on sustainability, upcyling fabrics, printing back over existing garmets and reworking pieces to produce innovative new pieces.
Earley frequently uses scans and photographs of more traditional textile elements, such as knits, and embroidery or embellishments, which are then printed. She is part of the highly acclaimed Textiles Environment Design (TED) research centre and Textiles Future Research Centre (TFRC) at the University of the Arts. Many of the researchers in her sphere explore and exploit digital print but primarily with a sustainable and environmental directory.
