Charles and Ray Eames were an American design couple who contributed work to the disciplines of architecture, furniture, textiles and photography. Their name is synonymous with post war and mid century design aesthetics. I have included them in this blog because the motifs and colour choices are an interesting contrast to those of the Interwar that I am researching. The look is abstract but colourful. Materials and motifs are paired down, moulded and curvy. The Eames lounge chair is perhaps the image that comes to mind when you think of their work (see below) but their textiles echo the science and technical inspired fabrics that were seen at the Festival of Britain.
