Vibeke Riisberg is a Danish textile designer and artist and an Associate Professor of Design at the Kolding School of Design. She was the first textile designer in Denmark to gain a PhD for her research project Printed textiles – from analogue to digital processes. Her research concentrates on how pattern, colour and traditional design elements are translated and incorporated in digital design, although she also researches sustainability and the culture of materials in textiles.
The colours she uses in her digital designs do not necessarily draw you in. Some of them feel a bit clangy, a bit clunky, a bit 1980s arcade game but others are have vivid palettes contrasting with rich earthy tones. Her simpler, more traditional designs use one or two tonal colours.
