Joan Truckenbrod is a digital artist who has been exploring the possibilities of digital art since the mid 70s. Initially exploring FORTRAN programming language to describe light through line drawings made by a computer she produced digitally printed textiles by using a heat press to transfer colour prints onto fabric. These became large digital tapestries. An early pioneer of computer imaging she hacked software to make it create the images she wanted, exploring additive colour possibilities.

More recently her work has incorporated video and photographic projections onto sculptural installation pieces to question sustainability and human actions. Her work still explores form through textiles and light however although her colour palette has become more about the imagery she is projecting than an exploration of colour possibilities.
