Timorous Beasties are a design duo based in Glasgow. They frequently explore new technologies,  laser etching patterns into brickwork, and are creating very cutting edge digital prints. Their exhibition at Plymouth was loosely based around the idea of a bedsit, but here glamour arose from the decay. The ants that walked across the walls were flocked and the paint strewn bed was deep buttoned cotton luxury.

Timorous Beasties themselves describe the show as adding luxury to repulsion, questioning beauty and looking for inspiration in the oddest of places. Their digital prints retain a sense of traditional by continuing to incorporate repeat patterns of sort which appease the eye but also include hand detail, so that the digital prints look like they’ve been painted by spray can or water colour. Its very clever.
