Real Dirty Blue was an exhibition of the Central Saint Martins archive, celebrating past staff and students. The title, from Joyce Clissold’s dye book, didn’t offer much of an insight into what was on offer but the show provided insight into the research practice of 26 designers working from 1927 to 2015.

I was interested in seeing the work of Malcolm Cocks, a pioneering digital textile artist who designed his own code to create pattern designs which here were printed upon vinyl.

The display included black and white print outs from his code produced patterns, the code he wrote as well as several vinyl panels.
